The great thing about New Year’s resolutions is the simple power of writing things down. Getting it out of your head and onto paper is powerful, whether you accomplish everything you resolve or not.
At the end of last year, YA author Nova Ren Suma made seven writing resolutions and uploaded them to her blog, distraction no. 99. No, we didn’t get to see the resolutions, but we saw each folded and numbered piece of paper, with the promised reveal to come at the end of 2012—along with how well Nova stuck to her resolutions. Talk about brave.
This week was the big reveal. Again—brave!!
If you haven’t been over to Nova’s blog to see the resolutions and how she did, be sure to do it. I’m not going to spoil it here. But I will tell you that several of those seven resolutions are worth stealing. As is the idea of holding oneself publicly accountable for one’s resolutions.
So here’s the deal. Make your resolutions. Tell us in the comments how many you’ve made. We’ll tell how many we make in the comments as well. Then join us at the end of December 2013 in revealing how we—and you—did.
Hope everyone has a Happy New Year, and here’s wishing you a fantastic 2013!
